Message from the Home Craft Chair
"Welcome to our Hoe Down", which is the theme for our 2009 Orangeville Fall Fair, is a theme that combines music and earlier times,
when community dances and celebrations tied rural and urban communities together.
On fair weekend, walk through the Home Craft section of the Exhibition Hall and admire all the varied items and vast talent in our community.
There you can see a selection of quiliting, baking, hobbies, crafts, floriculture, agricultural products, bottled goods, antiques, photography, art and
many other imaginable creations by young and old. Those interested in exhibiting are encouraged to review the prize lists and rules from the prize book.
If you have any questions contact the Chair of the class, as listed in the prize book, or call the fair office. Remember to pre-register on or before
Aug. 28, 2009, in order to receive your free, one-day admission pass.
Since our last fair, our Home Craft committees have reviewed their assigned classes and have made additions and/or changes. Check carefully for these
changes based on suggestions and interest expressed. Remember if you exhibit in Culinary Arts, only a sample of th winning exhibit is kept. All other
entries can be picked up between the hours of 6 pm to 8 pm after judging on Friday evening or left until fair closing on Monday afternoon. To minimize
waster, smaller sized loaves of breads are expected for judging.
Every year our President's Quilt Block Challenge is a success. Raffle tickets are available for a queen size quilt using the 'Black and White' quilt block
theme from the 2008 Fall Fair. This quilt will be raffled to a lucky winner on the last day of the Fair.
For exhibitors who enjoy quilting or knitting and then donating, here is the Class for you to enter. Community Challenge, (Class 43) is exhibits shown
at the Fair and then donated to community sources. Small quilts for newborns at risk are donated to the Headwaters Health Care Centre. Our committee will decide
to which Community Service the mittens are sent. You may exhibit as many mitts or baby preemie quilts as you wish but only one entry per exhibitor will be
judged per class.
The fun of exhibiting is MAYBE winning a prize. Prize money can be collected on Monday, the last day of the Fair, at 4:30. Please bring your exhibitor's
sheet as identification to claim your entries and prize money.
A sincere thank you to all the Home Craft Chairpersons and their decidated committees of members and volunteers for all their time and energy put into
making our fair enjoyable for all. Thank you to all the sponsors who make our Fair a success.
Remember you are "WELCOME TO OUR HOE DOWN" on Labour Day Weekend.
Respectively submitted
