class 16: Junior Breed Showmanship

Rules:
  1. Junior members of Aberdeen Angus, Charolais, Hereford and Shorthorn are eligible to participate.
  2. Age groups as follows: Date of Birth as of December 31, 2008
  3. Exhibitors MUST wear ‘show numbers’.
  4. No prize money for this class.
Classes:
  1. Peewee –8 yrs. & younger.
  2. Junior - 9-12 yrs.
  3. Intermediate –13-16 yrs.
  4. Senior - 17-21 yrs.
A Grand & Reserve Grand Champion will be chosen in each division.

The Junior, Intermediate & Senior divisons will also show for points.

Class 17: Sheep

Class 17A: Dorset
Class 17B: Suffolk
Class 17C: Any other breed - long wool
Class 17D: Any other breed - short wool

Rules:
  1. Classification: The following breeds must be shown in short fleece (staple less than 1 inch or 2.5 cm): Border, Cheviot, Dorset, Hampshire, Oxford Down, Shropshire, Southdown, Suffolk at shows that fall between April 1 and October 14 inclusive. The same breeds mentioned above are allowed to be shown at shows that fall between Oct 15 and March 31 in staple length not more than 1.5 inches or 3.8 cm. Other breeds may be shown in short or full fleece at the discretion of the fair.
  2. In the Breeding Sections, only two breeds may be exhibited by an exhibitor and exhibitors may enter up to two entries per section to a maximum of two sections. All exhibits must be owned by and registered in the name of the exhibitor.
  3. Performance Requirements: All exhibits must have their Record of Performance (R.O.P.) test, (100 day weight).

  1. Ewe - “Yearling” -3rd pair of temporary incisors must be in place. Born and bred in Canada.
  2. Ewe - First pair of temporary incisors must be in place. Born the property of the exhibitor.
  3. Ram - “Yearling”-3rd pair of temporary incisors must be in place.
  4. Ram - First pair of temporary incisors must be in place. Born the property of the exhibitor.
  5. Get of Sire- Born the property of the exhibitor. A group of three animals, full mouth milk teeth, by the same sire. Both sexes may be represented. Animals may or may not have been shown in previous sections.

Group Section:
  1. Breeder’s Flock -bred and owned by exhibitor. A group of four animals. Both sexes to be represented. Each animal in the group must have been exhibited in one of the preceding classes. All animals in a group to be in one breed.

  1. This is a sanctioned Canadian Goat Society Show and their rules will apply.
  2. The pre-show Veterinary Inspection that each animal must pass starts at 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. and no additional entries will be allowed once inspections are completed.
  3. All show Persons must wear “Show Number”.

7SP JUNIOR SHOWMANSHIP:
- Open to exhibitors 12 years and under.
- To be judged on showmanship.
- Whites should be worn.
- All exhibits must have shown in one of the above classes.
- Ribbons for all and prizes on availability.
